Also, I have never, in all my life, changed thread as much as I did yesterday! Because I had only a little bit of matching thread, I sewed the unseen (from the outside) seams with a light cream colored thread and only the top stitching was done with matching thread--top only. It looks fine that way...but the funny this is that once I was nearly complete, I went rummaging in one of the drawers we keep sewing stuff in looking for I can't remember what and found a brand new spool of matching thread! It wasn't where it was supposed to be, so I missed it earlier. Oh well.
I got most of the handwork done last night and had to finish it up this morning....
Then, I was ready for buttons and button holes. It took me 3-4 hours on that button job because, as it ended up, my sister and I spent those hours sorting all those hundreds of buttons that have been cut off the men's shirts we have repurposed over the last six months or more. Once they were sorted, we put them into little plastic bags. Yes, that was my creative and clever sister's idea. I'd have never come up with it.
Anyway, by now I'm sure you really just want me to be quiet and show off the outfit! So, to oblige...The British Khaki Summer Uniform Newborn Set! (I probably won't title it so on the Etsy shop...)
Also, that cool hanger? That is Grandma's old baby hanger. Came in real handy. :)
Anyway, two days from start to finish on this. It's supposed to be Newborn size, but I think it's a wee big, so I'm going to "shrink" the pattern a little bit, especially since the taffeta ones are for triplets...and I think twins and triplets are generally born a little smaller than single young uns.
The taffeta should arrive on Thursday...so don't expect any post sooner than middle of next week on that front.
Cheerio!
